Michael Jackson’s legacy is being celebrated through public art in Miramar, Florida, where a new mural exhibition is bringing cultural icons to life with the help of augmented reality.
Located in the Botanical Garden at the Miramar Cultural Center, the Windows to Our World exhibition invites visitors to explore murals celebrating influential figures from different cultural backgrounds. According to a recent report, the latest installation includes a mural dedicated to Michael Jackson as part of the centre’s Black History theme.
But this is more than just a collection of paintings. The exhibition has introduced an exciting technological feature that allows visitors to watch elements of the artwork come alive on their smartphones.
By scanning the QR code displayed beside a mural, visitors can access augmented reality animations, alongside information about the people represented and the stories behind each artwork.
The project was developed through a partnership between the City of Miramar and Wolfgan Media LLC, combining public art with interactive digital experiences.
The reported 2026–2027 exhibition also celebrates Cuban singer Celia Cruz, Jamaican sprinting legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and chef and humanitarian José Andrés, with each figure representing a different cultural or social theme.
The murals form part of the Windows to Our World initiative, which transforms the architectural alcoves of the Miramar Cultural Center into an outdoor gallery celebrating heritage, creativity and community.
Located at 2400 Civic Center Place, the venue combines performing arts, exhibitions and a botanical garden, providing a public space where visitors can discover art beyond the traditional gallery setting.
For Michael Jackson fans visiting South Florida, the reported mural offers another opportunity to celebrate the King of Pop’s enduring influence and see his image represented in a community art project.
And with augmented reality adding movement and storytelling to the experience, this is a mural that visitors may want to explore with their phones ready!
