Collectors, get ready to open your wallets! Keepsake has announced a brand-new Michael Jackson trading card release, The Album Collection Spotlight Series, celebrating the King of Pop’s incredible solo catalogue and this time, there is an extraordinary chase card waiting for one very lucky collector: a Michael Jackson signature.
The new ultra-premium collection pays tribute to seven of Michael Jackson’s iconic solo studio albums:
- Off the Wall (1979)
- Thriller (1982)
- Bad (1987)
- Dangerous (1991)
- HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I (1995)
- Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix (1997)
- Invincible (2001)
Each box contains just one encased trading card, presented in a jumbo foil pack, with every card sequentially numbered. So, this is definitely not your traditional trading-card pack where you open several cards at once and start swapping duplicates with your friends!
Seven albums, one collection
The base set consists of seven cards featuring the artwork from Michael’s seven solo albums. The numbering itself reflects the history behind each release. For example, the Off the Wall Silver Rainbow Foil card is numbered to /1979, Thriller to /1982, Bad to /1987 and so on, right through to Invincible, numbered to /2001.
Collectors can also chase a range of premium inserts, including:
- Laser SignaGraphs, highlighting moments from each album era with laser-etched design elements.
- Showcase Inserts, featuring portrait-style images celebrating Michael’s stage presence.
- Framed Inserts, using an elegant framed design around historical photographs.
- Glitter Board Inserts, inspired by the glitz and glamour of Michael’s legendary costumes.
There are also Album Artifact Relics, containing pieces of original Michael Jackson records, as well as Gemstone Relics featuring real embedded gemstones.
The ultimate chase: a Michael Jackson autograph
But, of course, the card that will have collectors’ hearts racing is the Ultra-Rare 1-of-1 Cut Autograph: an authentic, hand-signed Michael Jackson signature incorporated into a trading card.
There will only be one.

The collection also includes numerous foil and colour parallels, ranging from Silver Rainbow Foils and Red Rainbow Foils through Silver and Red Cracked Ice editions, right up to Gold parallels numbered to /10 and /5, before reaching the ultimate 1/1 cards.
The cards are being sold in individual boxes for £36, while a sealed 10-box case is available for £357. The release is currently available for pre-sale, with an official release date of September 9, 2026.
Premium collecting… but what about everyone else?
Now, I absolutely love the concept behind this collection. As a Michael Jackson collector, there is something genuinely exciting about the idea of opening a pack and potentially finding a piece of Michael Jackson history, especially with the possibility of a genuine autograph card.
However, I cannot help but miss the days of more traditional trading cards.
Back in 1996, for example, fans could buy packs of Michael Jackson cards from Panini and work towards completing a collection of around 100 cards. They were cheap, cheerful and, most importantly, accessible. You could buy a few packs with your pocket money, trade duplicates with friends and slowly build your collection.
Kids could collect them.
Today, as Karen Langford has stated on multiple occasions, the focus is very much on “premium” products and there is certainly a market for that. These Keepsake cards are beautifully presented, limited and clearly designed for serious collectors with deeper pockets.
And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I am genuinely happy for fans who can afford to collect these premium releases and enjoy the thrill of chasing rare cards.
But I do feel there needs to be some balance.
Not every Michael Jackson fan can spend £36 on the chance of receiving a single card. And children, the next generation of Michael Jackson fans and collectors, are largely priced out of this type of product altogether.
It would be wonderful to see a new, affordable Michael Jackson trading card collection alongside these premium releases: something colourful, fun and accessible, with dozens or even hundreds of cards to collect, trade and enjoy without having to break the piggy bank.
Because collecting Michael Jackson should not only be about owning the rarest and most expensive item. Sometimes, the joy is simply opening a packet, hoping you do not get another duplicate… and trading it with your friends the next day.
And, for me, that kind of magic is something worth bringing back.
