Michael Jackson personal items on display at Kingvention

As fans already know, the world’s only dedicated Michael Jackson fan convention, Kingvention, returns to London on May 30, 2026 and this year’s event is bringing something truly special.

In an exciting collaboration, leading entertainment memorabilia auction house Propstore has teamed up with Kingvention to present an exclusive exhibition of rare and personal items once owned and worn by Michael Jackson. These pieces will be auctioned later this year, giving fans a unique opportunity to see them up close before they disappear into private collections, possibly forever.

For attendees, this is more than just an exhibition. It’s a rare chance to stand inches away from history. From stage-worn fashion to deeply personal wardrobe pieces, each item tells a story from different eras of Jackson’s legendary life and career.

A HIStory-Era Icon on Display

Among the standout pieces is a striking black-and-gold military-style jacket worn by Michael Jackson during the HIStory era. This jacket is photo-matched to the promotional photoshoot for his 1995 Primetime Live interview with Diane Sawyer, where he appeared alongside Lisa Marie Presley.

The jacket, heavily embellished with gold braiding and military-inspired detailing, reflects Michael Jackson’s visionary approach to fashion, blending theatricality, history, and personal symbolism. It was also worn during public appearances and on the HIStory World Tour, making it one of the most recognizable pieces from that era.

Highlights from The Omer Bhatti Collection

Several items in the exhibition come from the personal collection of Omer Bhatti, a close friend and protégé of Michael Jackson. Gifted directly by Michael Jackson, these pieces carry not only historical value but deep personal significance.

Black Leather Boots
A classic example of Jackson’s everyday style, these black leather boots were worn during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Designed by Stamati Mastroianni, they show natural signs of wear, offering an authentic glimpse into the King of Pop’s off-stage wardrobe.
Estimate: £6,000–£12,000

Photo-Matched Black-and-Gold Military Jacket
The crown jewel of the collection, this custom-made jacket was gifted to Bhatti in Tunisia during the HIStory tour in 1996, the very moment their lifelong bond began. Featuring intricate gold-bullion braiding, 84 decorative buttons, and rare detailing on both front and back, it represents one of the most elaborate designs created by Jackson’s longtime costume designers.
Estimate: £200,000–£400,000

Red Face Mask
Face masks became an iconic part of Jackson’s later public image, originally conceived as a way to protect his health while traveling. This rare red silk version, seldom seen compared to his more common black masks, was custom-made and gifted to Bhatti in Germany near the end of the HIStory tour.
Estimate: £6,000–£12,000

Customised Sailors Varsity Jacket
A one-of-a-kind varsity jacket featuring “Michael” embroidered on the back, this piece was worn during a 1993 hospital visit in Washington. Designed by Japanese brand Sailors, it reflects Jackson’s love for bold, personalized fashion.
Estimate: £30,000–£60,000

The Story Behind the Collection

Omer Bhatti first met Michael Jackson in 1996 in Tunisia, where his dancing caught the superstar’s attention. That chance meeting led to a close personal and professional relationship, with Michael Jackson becoming a mentor figure in Bhatti’s life. Over the years, Jackson gifted him several personal items, many of which have remained carefully preserved until now.

This exhibition marks the first time some of these pieces have ever been publicly displayed or offered for sale.

Don’t Miss Your Chance

For fans attending Kingvention, this exhibition is a must-see. Moments like this are incredibly rare, an opportunity to witness authentic pieces from Michael Jackson’s life, each carrying its own story, energy, and legacy.

With these items heading to auction later this year, this may be the last time they are ever publicly displayed.

Get up close. Take it in. Experience the legacy.
