Jackson State University Honors Michael Jackson

The 2026 HBCU Legacy Bowl halftime show delivered a powerful and polished tribute to Michael Jackson, as Jackson State University took the field with a medley celebrating the King of Pop’s enduring influence.

In true HBCU fashion, the performance blended musical precision, dynamic formations and commanding choreography. The Sonic Boom brought stadium-sized arrangements of Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough, Liberian Girl, Jam, and Leave Me Alone, keeping the crowd engaged from start to finish.

The visual presentation did not go unnoticed by the fans. The uniforms, drum aesthetics and overall color palette felt strikingly familiar to fans who recently saw the promotional post for the upcoming Michael biopic:

Whether intentional or coincidental, we can only speculate that those two events are related. We will have to wait later today to see what the “Michael” social media accounts will give us.

But for now, thank you Sonic Boom for a great performance, tribute to the King of Pop!
