Over two festive days, fans, families, and music lovers from around the world are invited to celebrate the enduring legacy of the Jacksons with a block party that promises music, laughter, and community spirit.
The event kicks off on Friday, August 29, 2025, running from 12 PM to 7 PM at Roosevelt High School, located at 730 W. 25th Avenue in Gary. This first day centers on what would have been Michael Jackson’s birthday, and will be hosted by none other than comedian Chris Tucker, a close friend of Michael and a fan favorite in his own right. Joining him to commemorate the occasion are Jackie and Marlon Jackson, who will make special appearances. The soundtrack for the day will be supplied by local DJs K Caesar, All Owt, and Cheech Beats, ensuring a high-energy celebration fitting for Michael’s memory.
The festivities continue on Saturday, August 30, also from 12 PM to 7 PM, shifting focus to a broader tribute to the entire Jackson family. Grammy-winning singer Deniece Williams will be the host of the day, bringing her own touch of soul to the occasion. Music legend DJ Kid Capri will take over the turntables, keeping the crowd dancing throughout the day.
The block party is free to attend and designed to be family-friendly, with a dedicated Kids Play Zone, a variety of food trucks, and local vendors offering everything from crafts to festival eats. Paid parking will be available nearby, making it convenient for visitors traveling from out of town.
