1997: Michael Jackson visited Battersea Power Station as a potential for Kingdom Entertainment Park

Did you know that Michael Jackson visited the site of Battersea Power Station, London UK in 1997?

In June 1997, Michael took a tour of the power station as a potential site for a “self-contained fantasy centre.”

Michael is teamed with Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal in a venture to develop theme parks, as well as films and videos. The venture was called “Kingdom Entertainment”

However, sources close to Michael Jackson said Battersea is just one of a number of European sites the singer is considering. In the same year, plans to build a theme park in Poland were set. Michael visited few European cities around Europe to plan a theme park under the venture masterplan. And a year later, talks in Detroit started.

Unfortunately none of those project came to life and the rest is history!

  1. I think the only thing that came of Kingdom Entertainment was Michael’s short film “Ghosts” and the company name emblazoned on the side of Michael’s plane for the HIStory tour. Such a same. Like so many visionary ideas Michael had, it could have been great…
